Canaries in the Coalmine: The Persecution of Iranian Bahá’í
This is the headline of an article by Reza Aslan in defense of the human rights of the Baha’is of Iran in his site ASLAN MEDIA.
Aslan mentions a few of the many unique contributions of the Iranian Baha’is to the advancement of their community at large.
I wish he did say that had the Iranian intellectuals, government authorities and religious leaders had the necessary vision and foresight, they would have celebrated the forward moving teachings of Baha’u’llah 160 years ago and made Iran the proud leader of progress and civilization amongst all the nations of the world. Every one of the Teachings of Baha’u’llah is today an established requirement of civilization and progress and humanity.
Mr. Aslan concludes his statement as follows:
These times of change are times of danger and uncertainty, but also of creativity and opportunity. Let us seize the moment to play our part in supporting all those who struggle for human rights throughout the Middle East. To learn about how you can help the struggle of the Bahá’í community in Iran, go to www.bahai.us. Make your voice heard. From making new friends of a different background, to supporting human rights NGOs, to writing your Senator or member of Congress on the importance of the issue – each of us can play our part in supporting the spread of human rights at such a crucial time in such a critical part of the world.
Before Grand Ayatollah Hussein Ali Montazeri died “he issued a fatwa in favour of Bahais.”
By Reza Aslan, Author and Aslan Media FounderI thank him for his stance with truth. It makes me proud to see my fellow Iranians standing upright for what is right and has been. Watching the plight of the Baha’is of Iran is almost like watching Star Wars and the battle of Luke Sky-walker and Darth Vader. Which one would you be rooting for?
