Drawing the Fire Tablet of Baha’u’llah

by staff

In 2009, Keyvan Geula LMFT was invited to teach the adult session at Green Acre Baha’i School in Eliot Main. This was a family session for one week, and children, youth, and junior youth had separate sessions with activities and studies. The teacher of the junior youth session requested that Mrs. Geula offer a special activity for the junior youth. At that time, the Baha’i families, Baha’i students, and children in Iran were targets of a new surge of persecution. Because of its special nature, Study Fire Tablet was selected for the junior youth to study and become familiar with its powerful tone. Then the junior youth were each given one of the phrases of the Fire Tablet to present in a drawing. The final outcome became a powerful and beautiful collection of their drawings on a long scroll Mrs. Geula recorded this memorable and historical learning process. The persecution of the Baha’is of Iran has never stopped and indeed continued and recently increased to a most disturbing degree. I had lost track of this video in my files. The recent persecution in Iran moved me to look for it and post it on my channel on Youtube, and the website I have dedicated to the human rights of the Baha’i children and youth in Iran is called kidsidebyside.org. It has been over 12 years since the Baha’i junior youth did these drawings at Green Acre. The junior youth now must be in their late twenties. After seeing the video, I would love to hear from them and learn their thoughts and reflections.
